ACHESON, Grace Olive (nee Whitney)

Peacefully, on February 28, 2016, Grace Olive (Whitney) Acheson of Ottawa, formerly of Milverton and London, Ontario. Following in the footsteps of her Rousom ancestors, Grace lived to her mid-nineties, just shy of her 95th birthday. Cherished mother of Virginia MacLatchy and James Acheson (Maria Mouroukas). Adored Gran of Jennifer and Meghan MacLatchy, David and Amy Acheson and Matthew and Eleni Scharf. Predeceased by her beloved husband of over forty years, James S. (Jim) Acheson; parents, William and Hazel Whitney; and infant son, John Acheson. Dear eldest sister of Milburn Whitney, Ruth Davidson and Wilma Spencer, all predeceased. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law, Betty Whitney, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Grace's Life will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 1099 Maitland Ave., Ottawa, K2 C 2B8, with a reception to follow. Spring Interment Donegal Cemetery, Donegal, Ontario. Special thanks to the staff of Thorncliffe Place for their loving care, especially during Grace's last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Nature Federation or the Mission and Sevice Fund of the United Church of Canada (made out to Trinity United Church with M&S Fund memo line).
