Roseburg Review Thu, Mar 11, 1909 Page 3 A telephone message from Glendale announed that Frank Whitsett, aged about 23 years, son of James Whitsett, had been killed in a blast at the Jackson County mine. Fred Whitsett, younger brother of Frank, was severely injuried by the blast but is reportd out of danger. The two young men were born on South Deer Creek, east of Roseburg.


The Shasta Courier Tue, May 21, 1912 Page 2 Frank Whitsett was killed in an explosion at the Balaklala Consolidated Copper Company at Shasta, California. His brother Fred sued the company for damages asking for $50,750. Fred was also injuried in the explosion. The $750 is for his damages,the $50,000 is for Frank's death.
