Richard passed away before November 25th, 1864 when a deed appears from Levisa (Lavica) Whitt to Meredith Whitt "...all rights to a farm where she now lives, it being the residence of Richard Whitt Sr. dec. [deceased]"[2][3] This is also confirmed by the 1870 US Census which shows his wife living in the home of their son Meredith. [4]
