Benefit Football Match.—A benefit football match tendered to Mr Frederick<b> <b>Whittaker,<b> who has been unable to follow his employment on account of a long-standing illness, will take place at Lancaster Pork on August 26th, between a combined Thursday afternoon team and a combined team of bootmakers. The Directors of the Lancaster Park Company have kindly placed the grounds at the disposal of the Committee. Star , Issue 5953, 19 August 1897, Page 3. Benefit Football Match.— The bootmakers of Christchurch have arranged a benefit football match, to take place at Lancaster Park on Thursday afternoon in next week. The object of their sympathy is Mr F. <b>Whittaker, a married man with three children, who is a fearful sufferer from cancerous growths, and is now quite unable to work. The case is a really deserving one, and as the charge for admission will only be sixpence, it is hoped that there will be a very large attendance.
