Biography

William Whittemore, Jr. born January 28, 1769, was baptized January 29, 1769, the son of William Whittemore and Abigail Carteret, of Charlestown, Massachusetts.

On February 2, 1796, William married Anna Cutter, also from Charleston. [1] Anne and William lived on her father's homestead, where their children were born. Children of William and Anna are:

  • Anna (Ann) Whittemore, baptized November 24, 1799, died at Lexington, May 14, 1862, married Samuel Adams of West Cambridge on May 26, 1822
  • Eleanor Whittemore, born June 25, 1801, baptized July 5, 1801, died October 5, 1805
  • William Augustus Whittemore, born November 30, 1804, baptized March 24, 1805, died in Arlington, MA, April 24, 1867, married Abigail C. Tufts on January 8, 1838
  • Susan Francis Whittemore, born May 11, 1807, baptized May 17, 1807, died in West Cambridge on January 17, 1850, married Pascal Sprague on April 15, 1832
  • Eleanor Sophia Whittemore, born November 24, 1809, baptized February 25, 1810, died in Arlington, Christmas Day, 1868, married John P. Daniels, on October 18, 1832
  • George Washington Whittemore, born May 5, 1812, baptized October 4, 1812, died in Cambridge, July 17, 1870, married Cynthia Richardson, and was the proprietor of Wilde's Hotel, Elm Street, Boston
  • Thomas Whittemore, born May 9, 1815, baptized June 16, 1816, married Clara Richardson, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on July 27, 1837, resided at Chelsea

Anne died October 27, 1849. William died in Chelsea, Massachusetts on October 17, 1854. (Probably at the home of his youngest son, Thomas)
