Robert Whetten was born on 16 June 1744, in Wareham, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.
His father was Thomas Whetten, and his mother, Lydia Weeks. [1] He married Joanna (Morse) Whitten on 7 April 1765, in Wareham, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America. [2] They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. [3]

Some {unsourced} information was researched that would suggest one male child named Robert Jr. being born, but living only 5 years (before 1 January 1769-before 23 October 1774). Then, a second male child named Robert Whitten was born and christened -before 23 October 1774.
