George Whitten, age 20, Bachelor, Shipbuilder's Labourer, of 67 Orchard Street, Partick, (son of William Whitten, Labourer & Mary Whitten maiden surname Donald) & Mary Algie, age 20, Spinster, Cotton Weaver, of 9 Monkland Street, Partick, (daughter of John Algie, Labourer & Mary Algie maiden surname Snodgrass) were married 26th September 1862 in Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland after Banns according to the Forms of the Free Church of Scotland by Henry Anderson, Minister, Partick. George & Mary both made their mark. Witnesses were William Moffet & Agness Moffet.[1][6][7]
George Whitten, Night Watchman (married to Mary Algie), died aged 55 from bronchitis, on 22nd October 1893 at 57 North Street, Whiteinch, Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland, (son of George Whitten, Farm Labourer, deceased & Mary Whitten maiden surname Donaldson, deceased). His wife Mary was present when he died and was the informant on his death registration.[8][9]
