In the 1861 census the family had moved again, to 53 Albion Street, Brighton. Samuel was working as an agricultural labourer. [4]
By the 1871 census all the children had left home and the couple were living in 4 Richmond Hill, Brighton. Samuel was still working as a labourer. [5]
By 1881 the couple had moved up the street to 8 Richmond Hill and Samuel was back working as an engine driver (locomotive) even though he was 72 years old. [6]
Samuel died in 1883 in Brighton. He was 74 years old. [7]
