Biography

OBITUARY: Funeral services for Kenneth Wiederhold, 72 of Serbin, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home. The family will be present on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Kenneth Wayne Wiederhold was born on December 4, 1949, in Giddings, Texas, the son of Edgar Lewis and Ruby Lee (Grundmann) Wiederhold. He was baptized March 5, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dime Box by Pastor S. T. Schroeder and confirmed on May 17, 1964 also at St. John’s by Pastor Charles E. Brinkmeyer. Kenneth graduated from Lexington High School in 1968 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University in 1972. He was united in marriage to Lynette Elaine Schulze on September 1, 1973 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin with Pastor Arthur E. Graf officiating. This marriage was blessed with two children, Jan and Troy.

In his younger years, Kenneth helped at his parent’s meat market in Lexington and later had numerous summer jobs while attending school. He began his teaching career at Brenham ISD in 1974 where he taught high school Physical Science, Physics, Agriculture Coop, and CVAE Shop. In 1988, he returned home to teach at Giddings ISD. There he taught Physical Science, Physics, and some Biology. After retiring he taught part time at Schulenburg ISD, Fayetteville ISD, and at Temple College in Taylor. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin where he had served as secretary, vice- chairman, and on the finance committee.

Growing up Kenneth enjoyed riding his horses and competing in some local events. He was a good athlete and participated in many sports while in high school. He always attended games and supported his children when they played sports in school. Kenneth enjoyed watching sports, especially UT. His greatest joy was watching his two little grandsons.

He passed away the afternoon of Monday, February 14, 2022 in Temple, Texas.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ruby Wiederhold; his mother-in-law, Adele Schulze, and his nephew, Timothy Wiederhold.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lynette Wiederhold of Giddings; his daughter, Jan Wiederhold of Houston; son, Troy Wiederhold and wife Chelsea of Giddings; two grandsons, Levi Wiederhold and Travis Wiederhold of Giddings; brother, Jack Wiederhold and his wife Marian of Giddings; father-in-law, Elmo Schulze of Giddings; sister-in-law, Diann Pietsch and husband Dennis of Giddings, and brother-in-law, Daryl Schulze and wife Patricia of Giddings. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church General Fund, 1572 County Road 211, Giddings, Texas 78942, or to the charity of your choice.
