John was born on 28 Nov 1781 in Abbeville, South Carolina. He was the son of John Alexander Wier I and Mary Caldwell (Stewart) Richey.

He married Margaret Ann Wilson.

He died on 17 Feb 1849 in Abbeville, South Carolina. He was buried in Upper Long Cane Cemetery.^[1]
