Biography

Bernice (Wiggins) Snowden is a part of US Black heritage.

Bernice Wiggins was born October 15, 1900, in Oakland, California, to Wallace Wiggins and Sylvia Burk. ^[1]

Bernice was married to Henry Snowden in 1921 and to this union, seven children were born.

Mrs. Snowden was instrumental in re-opening the doors of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Fowler, California. She was the Mother of the Church at Second Baptist Church in Fowler. She was fondly called "Big Mama" by everyone that knew her.

She died Sunday, March 8, 1987, at the age of 86 years^[1] and is buried in Fowler Cemetery in Fowler, California.^[2]

"She leaves to cherish her memory: three sons- Muriel Snowden of Brawley, California, Henry Snowden of Los Angeles, California, and Robert Snowden of San Diego, California; three daughters - Treva Clay Williams of Fresno, California, Barbara Rogers of Tulare, California, and Geraldine Williams of Fowler, California. From these children, she was blessed with forty grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, three nieces, three nephews, and had many other relatives and friend."
