Birth
This profile is part of the Hanborough, Oxfordshire One Place Study.
Ellen was born in 1860 in Hanborough, Oxfordshire.[1] She was the daughter of James Wiggens and Mary Treadwell. She was baptised at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 19th February 1860.[2] Her father stated on the register that he was a labourer.
Marriage
Walter Edward Merry and Ellen Elizabeth Wiggins were married at St Peter and St Paul, Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 9th June 1888.[3] Walter was 25, a bachelor working as a labourer and living in Freeland, the son of Robert Merry who was a labourer. Ellen was 27, a spinster living in Hanborough and the daughter of James Wiggins who was a labourer. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were George Thomas Phipps, Alice Phipps, Fanny Merry and Albert James.[4]
