About Australia Project, Wikitree-37
Wikitree-37 is the Wiki-ID for the Australia Project, assigned as the profile manager for project managed and project protected profiles of designated Australians.
Many historically significant Australians will have many WikiTreers who want to manage their profile. Having a large number of individual managers is undesirable because a 'private message' has to be sent to each individual manager. Often, only one is chosen, and that manager may not be available to deal with the enquiry. By having the Australia Project manage these profiles, only one Private Message needs to be sent and designated Australia Project members informed. This ensures that there is always someone to deal with any enquiry.
It may be desirable for profiles to be managed by the project where there are ongoing contentious issues, such as disputed parents, or large numbers of descendants. Profiles managed by the Australia Project will include Indigenous Australians, as well as historically significant profiles from Colonial Australia and post Federation to the present day.
The Australia Project is currently developing criteria for managing these profiles and specific process rules, which will be posted here when finalised.

Indigenous Australians are the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia, descended from groups that existed in Australia and surrounding islands before British colonisation. Although there are a number of commonalities between Indigenous Aboriginal Australians, there is also a great diversity among different Indigenous communities and societies in Australia, each with its own mixture of cultures, customs and languages.
The Indigenous Australia Project is a sub project of the Australia Project, you can read more about the project here.
