Ann (Wilby) Deacon was born in Birstall, Yorkshire, England.

Ann was born in Birstall, Yorkshire England, in 1821. She was the daughter of William Wilby and Margaret Firth. She was baptized on July 1, 1821, in Birstall.[1]

Ann married James Deacon in 1843.[2] The ceremony was performed on July 17th in Birstall at St Peter. According to the Parish Register, [3] Ann was a full age spinster residing in Gomersal. Her father was named as William Wilby "Green Grocer". James was a full age bachelor and "Clothier" residing in Gomersal. His father was named as Joseph Deacon "Clothier". The witnesses were Joseph Manfield and George Bramley. The couple would have seven children.

Ann and James were enumerated in the 1851 census [4] residing on Commercercial Street, Bradford. Four children at residence ages seven to under one year old. In 1861[5] the family was living at 27 North Brook Place, Bradford (East End). Six children ages seventeen to six. They were at the same residence in 1871 [6] and 1881.[7]

James passed away in 1888. Ann was enumerated in the 1891 census [8] still residing at 27 North Brook Place. She was sixty nine, widowed, and head of household. Widowed children Joseph, Alfred and Clara as well as nine grandchildren and one lodger also at residence. Ann was living with her daughter Clara (now Roberts) and family at 120 Canal Road Bradford, in 1911.[9]

Ann passed away in 1912.[10] Her death was registered in the second quarter in Bradford. She was ninety one.
