Biography

Hannah Wilcock was born about 1798 to John and Sally Wilcock (of "Smithy Stead'). She was baptized on December 25, 1798 at St; Thomas Church, Heptonstall, Yorkshire

She married John Horsfall on January 21, 1816 at St Thomas, Heptonstall

By 1841, John and Hannah had 10 children: William (21), Henry (17), Grace (15-19), James Edward (13), Thomas (11), Charles Frederick (9), Sarah Jane (7) Anna Maria (6), Ellen Eliza (4) and Harriet (2). They lived at Nut Clough (by Hebden Bridge).

The 1851 census provides greater detail on names and more accurately identifies Grace's age (8 5). The family had also added a son (Benjamin Milton) and they then lived at Mayroyd, Hebden Bridge.

By 1861, Hannah's husband John had passed away (1854) leaving Hannah at age 63 and children. The family still lived at Mayroyd, Hebden Bridge.

In 1871, Hannah was 73 years old, and now lived on New Road, Hebden Bridge with seven of her children.

Hannah died on 22 November 1872 at the age of 74. The death was recoded in Todmorden, Yorkshire. Hannah was buried in Heptonstall.
