Sarah Wilcock was born in about 1813 in Prescot, Lancashire.

Sarah married William Denton on 2 Feb 1834 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish; William was a potter, Sarah a spinster. The witnesses were James Park and James Southern. Sarah already had a little daughter Ann, who'd been christened in December 1832.

Their son John was christened on 3 Apr 1836 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire, England. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Whiston.

Their son Benjamin was christened on 19 May 1839 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire, England. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Prescot.

By June 6th 1841, they were living in Hackley Moss, Eccleston. William was a journeyman mason. In addition to William and Sarah's own children, 5-year-old Mary Denton was with them on the night of the census; she was probably the daughter of William's first cousin Joseph Denton (1806-).

William and Sarah's daughter Mary was christened on 21 Nov 1841 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire, England. Her father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Eccleston.

Their daughter Sarah was christened on 25 Dec 1843 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire, England. Her father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Rainhill.

Their son James was christened on 30 Aug 1846 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire, England. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Prescot.

Their daughter Mary was christened on 30 Jun 1848 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire, England. Her father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Prescot.
