Biography

(San Antonio Express-News July 3, 2001) Katherine Moody Mrs. W. L. Moody, III (Katherine Wilcox), died July 2, 2001 in San Antonio, where she resided since 1953. Mrs. Moody, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Wilcox, was born in Texas City, Texas on March 8, 1915. She and Mr. W. L. Moody III were married June 20, 1947 at Travis Park United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. They lived in Galveston, Texas until 1953, when they moved to San Antonio. Mrs. Moody was a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and a member of Laurel Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 5, 1992. She is also preceded in death by her brother, sister-in-law and son, Walter H. Wilcox and Katharine and son Philip; by her sister, Lazelle M. Wilcox; by her sister-in-law, Mrs. William M. Wilcox (Marjorie); her brother, John M. Wilcox and his son, John N. Wilcox. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. John M. Wilcox (Nita) of Texas City and her family and her nephew, Johnathon D. Wilcox and his wife, Barbara of East Dennis, Massachusetts; Mr. William M. Wilcox and his family of Austin, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. John M. Wilcox of Texas City; her brother, William M. Wilcox of Austin and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Moody is also survived by W.L. Moody, IV of Galveston; grandchildren, W.L. Moody, V, Linda Moody Sykes, Janice Moody and Elizabeth Moody; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Sykes, Edwin Sykes, Mary Janice Sykes and Sally Sykes. Mrs. Moody is preceded in death by Edna Moody Summers and survived by grandchildren and spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Van H. Archer, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. David B.T. Myrick; great grandchildren and spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Van H. Archer, III, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Douglas Archer, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen S. Archer, Ms. Edna Myrick Lucas, Mr. David Myrick, III, Ms. Megan Myrick, Mr. Seth Myrick and Mr. Tate Myrick; great great grandchildren, Charlotte Archer, Annie Archer, Maggie Archer, Brooke Archer, Katherine Archer, Christina Archer, William Douglas Archer, Jr., Nancy Lee Archer, Mary Corinne Archer, Jessica Myrick, Laura Myrick, Alexandria Lucas and Lauren Lucas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Moody is preceded in death by Virginia Moody Dietzman and granddaughter, Virginia Beardsley. She is also survived by granddaughter, Kathy Dietzman and great grandson, Haden Beardsley of Austin. Mrs. Moody is also survived by her Godchild and namesake, Betsy Kay Rowland of Bryan, Texas and Mardonio Serratos ("Pancho") and his family very dear friend of 51 years.
