Mamie M. Cabit, 97, of Bourbonnais, died Friday (Sep. 19, 1997) at Bradley Royale Nursing Home. Memorials may be made to the Open Bible Church, where she was the oldest living member. She was born Feb. 7, 1900 in Flickerville, Rockville Township, the daughter of Charles and Kate Corlett Wilcox. Her husband, Stanley Cabit, whom she married May 11, 1921 in Crown Point, Indiana, died May 11, 1984. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Thelma Eby Cabit of Monee, three daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Adam Marcukaitis of Monee, Venita and Joseph Marek of Bradley and Marle and Donald Schultz of Reddick, 23 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and 53 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Deceased are one brother, Charles Wilber, two grandsons , Michael Angelo and Thomas Michael Marek, two great-grandchildren, Joseph D and Donna Jo Clodi and one great-great grandchild, Ashley Renee Morales. Mrs. Cabit was a board member of the Deselm Methodist Church, a member of the Bradley American Legion Auxiliary 766, and the Bradley Mothers of World War II Unit 85. She enjoyed dancing, flowers, playing the piano and cooking for her grandchildren. Kankakee Sunday Journal Sep 21, 1997 page A7
