Biography

Richard Wilder was born after December 1792 and before 1800, in Chowan Co., North Carolina. Richard is the son of John Wilder and Sarah Bond.

Richard is mentioned in the will and estate records of his father, John Wilder, who died in Chowan Co., North Carolina in 1807. ". . .my Little gun in care of my Brother Nath'l for my son Rich'd to be kept for him until he knows how to use a gun . . . "

Richard Wilder married Margaret Williamson on 12 November, 1816, in Chowan Co., North Carolina.

Richard and Margaret are the parents of: Thomas C. Wilder, and Sarah Elizabeth Wilder.

Richard's will mentions his children in several places in his will, this is item 7th from his will: " . . . 7th I give and bequeath all the residue of my estate of whatever nature or kind unto my two beloved children Thomas C. Wilder and Sarah E. Wilder, to be equally divided between them share and share alike to them and their heirs forever . . ."

Richard died before August, 1843, in Chowan Co., North Carolina.
