Family trees on Ancestry suggested that Michael Wilder (1723-1782) married Susanna Steward (1698-1740), but the age gap seems quite unlikely. My hypothesis is that they had a son Michael Wilder, Jr. (1723-1782) who is the father of Michael Wilder III (1763- ) and Nathaniel Wilder, Sr. (1765-1832) by an unknown spouse. The best evidence for this Michael Wilder Jr. is a Michael Wilder in Lancaster county records on July 18th, 1776 when he was named in the Order Book as a constable along with Spencer George at the first court held for the County "after the establishment of the new form of Government in this Colony & the Declaration of Congress for the Independence of the American States." [1]For this to be Michael Wilder, Sr. (1700-1746) he would have been 76 years old which seems unlikely. And for it to be Michael Wilder III born 1763 equally unlikely.
Sons:
Michael Wilder, Jr. passed away in 1782 in Lancaster County, Virginia. [Source needed.]
Even if this "intermediate" Michael Wilder, Jr. is incorrect, both familysearch.org and Ancestry trees indicate this line goes through Michael Wilder and Susanna Steward.
