She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on August 30, 1920, daughter of the late Earl and Margaret Welty Wilder. She resided in Erie most of her life. Margaret was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for the Dorcas class, Church Secretary, Deaconess involved in Bible School and Missionary Society. During WWII she worked at General Electric. She enjoyed crocheting and writing poetry and plays. The widow of Ellsworth H. Baxter, to whom she was married 59 years, she is survived by; 2 sons, Jeffrey E. Baxter and wife Judy of Memphis, Tenn. and Dean R. Baxter and wife Nancy of Erie; 2 brothers, Earl J. Wilder of Oakdale, Minn. and Frank G. Wilder of Williamsville, N.Y.; 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jr., Jeremy, Dean, Jr., Emily and Beth Baxter; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th St., an Independent Care Group affiliate, on Monday, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 and are invited to attend the funeral service there on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Richard Bailey, Pastor, Bethel Baptist Church. Interment, Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Christian School, 1781 West 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.
