Biography

Michael Wilder was born about 1685 in Lower Norfolk county, Virginia. Michael is the son of Nathaniel Wilder and Sarah Phillips.

Michael married Susannah Steward sometime before 1721 in Virginia.[1]

Michael and Susanna's daughter Sidwell was christened in North Farnham Parish, Richmond county, Virginia on the 12th of December 1721.

Michael and Susanna's son Jonathan was christened in North Farnham Parish, Richmond county, Virginia on the 18th of January 1728.[2]

Michael and Susanna's daughter Rosanna was christened in North Farnham Parish, Richmond county, Virginia on the 9th of January 1730.

Michael made his last will and testament on the 1st of June 1746. Michael's will reads as follows: "In the Name of Amen I Michael Wildey of Lancaster county in the Parish of Christ Church being sick & weak of body but of perfect sense & memory thanks be to God for it. I make & ordain this my last Will & Testament as follows. First I give my Soul to Almighty God my he who gave it, my body to the ground to be buried in a Christian & decent manner and for what wordly Estate it hath been pleased God to bless me with all I give & bequeath as follows. First my will & desire is that my loving wife Susannah Wildey have all my Estate both real & personal during her widowhood and in case she the said Susannah should marry, then my pleasure is that she should have one child's part. Item I give to my daughter Lydia Wildey the use of one negro Peter after the death of her or other and in case the said Lydia should die then this negro should be sold & equally divided among my children. Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth Davis one shilling sterling & no more. I give to my daughter Sydweall Nash twenty shillings & no more - and when it shall please God to take to himself the soul of my loving wife Susannah then my will & pleasure is that my whole Estate be equally divided among the rest of my children namely, Jonathan Wildey, Sarah Wildey, Susanah Wildey, Michael Wildey, Nathaniel Wildey, Mary Wildey, My will is that my son Jonathan keep my daughter Lydia and maintain her for the use of my negro Peter, and I do hereby deny all other wills or legacies by me Michael Wildey then this made this twenty first day of June one thousand seven hundred forty six. [signed] Michael his X mark Wildey

In presence of William Gibson
At Court held for Lancaster county on Friday the 13th day of February 1746 this will was proved in open court by the oath of William Gibson a witness thereto and admitted to record and is recorded."[3]
