Biography

Beyond Lancaster, near Highspire, they pass the mansion of Colonel James BURD, who during the Revolution had commanded the 4th Battalion of Pennsylvania Rifleman. Little did Sarah (Widney) Linn, wife of Hugh LINN, think that in after years the daughter [Ann] of Colonel BURD would become as the widow of Benjamin WILDS, the wife of her brother, James WIDNEY to whose home they were going (in 1788), and who was destined to lose, eighteen years later, the companion of his early married life.
