Biography

ALFRED ARTHUR "Loose" WILES, 83, Myersville died Tuesday June 28 at his home. He was the husband of Shirley Gilroy Wiles who died July 25, 2007. Born at the Best House in Frederick Junction on August 5, 1932 he was a son of the late George Arthur and Margaret C. Waltz Wiles.

He was employed with Eastalco Aluminum Co as a crane operator from 1969 until his retirement in 1998. He also drove a fuel truck for Southern States in Frederick and a truck driver for Todd Steel in Pt of Rocks. He was presently employed part time with Gladhill Tractor Mart. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1952 until 1955.

He was a charter member of The Big Oak Lodge in Middetown; life member of Loyal Order of the Moose #371, Frederick; life member Amvets Post #2, Frederick ; life member Clopper American Legion Post #10, Boonsboro; and life member Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 142, Graybeards, Frederick.

He is survived by two children: James Arthur Wiles and Lynn Rebecca "Becky" Connelly; five grandchildren; sister, Barbara Summers; five brothers: Maurice L. Wiles; Robert W. Wiles; Wayne R. Wiles; David E. Wiles; Bruce T. Wiles.

He was predeceased by a brother Thomas E. Wiles; sister-in-law Doris Wiles and brother-in-law Oscar Summers.

Funeral Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements by Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown. Pallbearers will be : David Koogle, Marty Gladhill, Scott Burall, Branden Lowe, Tom Savage, Joe Bentley. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael and Owen Connelly.
