Frank Wilhelm, 87, of San Antonio, formerly of String Prairie, passed away Wednesday, October 21, at 9:45 p.m. at the Laurelwood Hospital in San Antonio. Rev. Claude A. Faust, pastor of both St. Mary's Catholic Church, String Prairie, and Sacred Heart Parish, Rockne, officiated at the Requiem High Mass offered Saturday morning, October 24, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, String Prairie. Servers for the Mass were Charles Barnett, grandson of the deceased, Lynn Jay Kastner, a great grandchild, both of San Antonio, and Carl Henry Rabel and Lawrence Goertz, String Prairie. Pall bearers were his grandsons, Willard Zumwalt, Seguin; Robert Kastner, Jimmy Barnett, Eddie Milburn, San Antonio; Alfred Kastner, Corpus Christi; and Alfred Klause (sic), Rockne. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Katie Wilhelm, San Antonio; three sons, Sylvestor Wilhelm, Waco; Andy Wilhelm, San Antonio; and Willie Wilhelm, String Prairie; four daughters, Mrs. John Kastner, Marion; Mrs. Willie Meuhr, Rockne, Mrs. Gordon Barnett, Mrs. Bill Milburn, San Antonio; three brothers, John Wilhelm, Austin; Andy Wilhelm, Rockne; Joe Wilhelm, Sr., Bastrop; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Wilhelm born January 1, 1871 at Sandy Creek to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wilhelm, and Elizabeth Meuth Wilhelm was one of eight children.
