Note: Funeral services for Joe Peter Wilhelm, 69, of Marlin, were held in Sacred Heart Church, Rockne, Friday afternoon, June 8, at 2:30 p.m. with Father Albert Palermo, pastor, officiating. Rosary was recited Thursday evening, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. Mr. Wilhelm died in a Marlin hospital, June 7, following a short illness. Burial was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockne. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Ervin Wilhelm, Rockne; James Wilhelm, Lockhart; and nephews, DeWitt Alexander, Bateman; Sherman Kadura, Rockne; Alton Seidel, Austin; and Wayne Rice, Smithville. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dora Wilhelm of Lockhart; one daughter, Mrs. Doraine Persell of Lockhart; six sons, Alfred Wilhelm, Rockne; Perry Wilhelm, Ernest Wilhelm, Floyd Wilhelm, Lockhart; Joseph Wilhelm and Allan Wilhelm of Austin; five sisters, Mrs. Rosa Allen, Marlin; Erna Wiseman, Waco; Mrs. Christina Kadura, San Antonio; Mrs. Louis Seidel and Mrs. Adolph Meuth, Rockne, and nine grandchildren. Mr. Wilhelm, the son of the late Peter and Hanna Wilhelm, was born in Red Rock, September 5, 1903, and was a life-time member of the Catholic Church. A number of friends and relatives from Rockne and surrounding towns and communities attended the services.
