Note: Ernest Wilhelm, 49, of Sacred Heart Parish, Rockne, died suddenly at his home near Rockne, Wednesday evening, November 27 about 6 p.m. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Claude A. Faust of Rockne officiated at the Requiem Mass held in Sacred Heart Church, Friday morning, November 29 at 10 a.m., and conducted the graveside services. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockne. Rosary was recited for the deceased Thursday evening, November 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Marrs Memorial Chapel, Smithville. Pallbearers were his nephews, Alfred Wilhelm, Arthur Wilhelm, Rockne; Carl Rice, Smithville; DeWitt Alexander, Bateman; Henry Tripp, San Antonio; and brother-in-law, E. M. Kopecka of San Antonio. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Maggie Wilhelm, Rockne; son, James Lee Wilhelm, McLeon, Virginia; daughter, Mrs. Jerry Michalik, Houston; his mother, Mrs. Hanna Wilhelm, Marlin; brother, Joe Pete Wilhelm, Marlin; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Allen, Marlin; Mrs. Eurna (sic) Weisman, Waco; Mrs. Christian Kadura, San Antonio; Mrs. Clara Meuth, and Mrs. Emilia Seidel of Rockne, and two grandchildren, Brenda Sue, and Bonnie Lynn Michalik of Houston. Mr. Wilhelm was a veteran of World War II, who held the purple heart, a campaign medal with four bronze stars, the good conduct medal, and American service Defense medal. Son of Mrs. Hanna Wilhelm of Marlin, and the late Pete Wilhelm, he was born in the Rockne Community, on July 8, 1919, and reared and educated in the Rockne area. Ernest Wilhelm and Miss Maggie Maczygemba of Cestokowa, Texas, were married September 13, 1942 in Cestokowa. The couple lived in San Antonio until they moved to Rockne two years ago, when Mr. Wilhelm retired from Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio after 26 years of service. A host of relatives and friends from surrounding towns attended the services.
