Funeral services for Dorothy Lee Wilhite Tidwell, 85, of Desdemona will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, May 13, at the Stephenville Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Brawner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Eastland County. Tidwell died Friday, May 11, at a local hospital.
She was born Nov. 26, 1915, in Hasse. She married James Hardy Tidwell Sr. on Jan. 20, 1934, in Eastland. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Tidwell was a member of the Desdemona Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Desdemona. She was a farmer and a rancher.
Survivors include one son, James Hardy Tidwell Jr. and wife Kaye of Stephenville; one daughter, Nancy Tidwell Bond of Desdemona; one sister, Clyde Paul of Topeka, Kan.; six grandsons, Jerry Michael King of Greensboro, N.C., Robert Bruce King of Lampasas, James Trenton Tidwell of Dallas, Todd Christopher Tidwell of Dallas, Cory Allen Tidwell of Dallas and Chad Anthony Tidwell of North Carolina; two granddaughters, Valerie Morrison of Frisco and Carol Janea Escobeda of Austin, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue King, and two sons, an infant son in 1942 and Donald Guy Tidwell.
