Henry was born in 1788. He was the son of William Wilheit and Sarah Montford.

Research notes
Ruffin Eatmon's probate papers after his death in 1829 mention his widow Agatha, now married to Henry Wilhite. Henry Young Wilhite was born about 1836. Henry Young Wilhite's marriage record in 1870 lists his parents as Henry and Aggie Wilhite. There is a North Carolina mortality record for Agatha Wilhite, b. 1796 Virginia, d. Feb 1850 Nash County, North Carolina. Henry Young Wilhite, b. 1836 North Carolina, is on an 1850 Census in Nash County, North Carolina with a Henry Wilhite b. 1808 North Carolina. Numerous family trees list Henry Wilhite's birth as 1788.
