Ray was born in 1932. He was the son of Robert Wilhoit and Florence Smith. He passed away in 2010.


Ray Robert Wilhoit, 78, of Cosley Lane, Greeneville, died Sunday at his home with his family by his side.

Mr. Wilhoit retired from the former Greeneville Industires, Inc. (Shipbuilders).

He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

"He said he was ready for his Heavenly Home," his family noted.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Allen and Cassie Wilhoit and Rex and Tina Wilhoit; three daughters and sons-in-law: Lois and Terry Kirkpatrick, Kathy and Leonard Kirkpatrick, and Sheila and Charlie Brown, all of Greeneville; his grandchildren: Mark Kirkpatrick, Lynn Monk, Shawn Kirkpatrick, Tera Trantham, Mitchell Wilhoit, Jessie Wilhoit, Travis Wilhoit, and Beth Greer; his great-grandchildren: Cole Kirkpatrick, Emily Harrison, Andrew Monk, Gracie Monk, Brent Trantham, Amber Trantham, "Baby Travis" Wilhoit, Austin Carpenter, Destiny Wilhoit, Matthew Brown, and Cheynne Wilhoit; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Doris and Gene Shelton, Patsy and Boyd Fox, Brenda and PeeWee Tweed, Vivian and Carrol Woods, and Peggy and Jim Fox, all of Greeneville; his wife: Bessie Wilhoit, and her daughter: Jennifer Douglas, and her children.

He was the son of the late Gerome [sic] and Florence Wilhoit and was preceded in death by his former wife: Elizabeth Ward; a daughter: Vickie Wilhoit; and three sisters: Yetva Wills, Ruby Ricker, and Jackie Cutshall.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons

Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Monk, Arron Greer, Richie Trantham, Charlie Brown; the staff of Amedisys Hospice, including Jim Leslie, and a special niece, Mitzi Cutshall Jones.
