When Nancy Welhoit was born before 1784, her father Tobias Wilhoit, was 34 and her mother Mary Polly (Shirley) Wilhoit was 29.[1][2] She married John Rush in Shelby County, Kentucky, in about 1798.[3] They relocated to what would become Meade County, Kentucky, (probably to Buck Grove) before 1801, and they had seven children together. She passed away in 1859.
Source documents indicate that Nancy Welhoit married John Rush in either 1812 or 1814. The same sources indicate that she had the following children: Thomas Shirley Rush b. 1801, Mary Elizabeth Rush b. 1802, Martha Jane Rush b. 1806, John A. Rush b. 1808, all of which would have been born before the marriage. Although entirely possible, it is unlikely that they would have lived together and had four children before being married.
