Leora Pearl Meyers, 88, died Wednesday at the Asbury Center.
Mrs. Meyers was born March 15, 1918, in Greene County, and was a daughter of the late James H. and Carrie Leming Wilhoit.
She was a 1935 graduate of Doak High School, and received a teaching degree from Tusculum College. Upon graduation, she taught in the Greene County School System.
A homemaker, she had lived most of her life in the Kingsport area and was the widow of Nestor W. Meyers.
She was a faithful member of the Mafair United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Meyers is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Donald N. and Sherry Meyers of Brentwood; a daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Steve Butler of Kingsport; four grandsons: Brad Meyers, Ryan Meyers and his wife, Allison, Nathan Meyers, and Scott Butler; a granddaughter: Stephanie Butler; two great-granddaughters: Emmeline Meyers and Larkin Meyers; a brother-in-law: Bill Brown of Kingsport; and several niece's and nephew's.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Henry Meyers, four brothers, and a sister.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at East Lawn Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
The Rev. Roc Collins will officiate. A committal service will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the East Lawn Memorial Park, Garden of The Well.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Meyers, son, son-in-law, and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her long time friends at Mafair UM Church.
