Biography

Pearl (Wilkey) McClaren was born in Kentucky.

Valina/Vilina^[1] or Valenar^[2] Pearl^[3] Wilkey was born about 15 March 1885, in Hopkins County, Kentucky, United States. Her Find A Grave memorial says that her first name was Valenar (no tombstone photo or sources). She was the daughter of Samuel H. Wilkey and Sarah Elizabeth McGriger/McGregor. The 1900 U.S. census shows Pearl Wilkey, age 15, living in Magisterial District 7 Kitchen, Hopkins, Kentucky, with her parents and younger sister Avy.^[3]

Valina/Vilena P. Wilkey was married 20 November 1901 at her father's home in Hopkins County, Kentucky, to Oll McClen aka McClaren.^[1] Ollie signed his name with a "X" mark, so his surname was apparently recorded phonetically.

Pearl died 8 March 1906 and is believed to be buried at Henson Cemetery in Richland, Hopkins, Kentucky.^[2]

Jewell died shortly after the passing of Pearl, and Archie was reared by Mrs. Jesse Stokes, who lived at Nebo, Kentucky."
