Biography

Sophia Wilkey, daughter of Samuel Houston Wilkey and Harriet Angeline (Tirey) Wilkey, was born in 1872 in Hopkins County, Kentucky. ^{[1] [2]} Her mother, Angeline died when she was 3-years old.

In 1880, "Sophia J Wilkey", age 7, lived in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky with her father, stepmother Sarah and siblings.

On 2 February 1891 in Obion, Tennessee, she married Richard R Franklin. ^[3] The 1900 Census, shows "Sophia J Wilkie" as divorced, using her maiden name, living as a boarder in Kitchen, Hopkins, Kentucky.

She died of tuberculosis ^[1] about 1909. She doesn' t appear in the 1910 or latter census records, suggesting that she perished before the 1910 Census enumeration. Meanwhile, her ex-husband Richard Franklin and son Austin Franklin lived with her uncle James H Wilkey which was also Richard's brother-in-law (his sister Tiny Franklin married James H Wilkey). ^[4]
