Marriage

  • Frederick married Mary Ann Charlotte Hunn on 9 February 1823 at St. Giles Church, Camberwell, Surrey, England.
  • Frederick was 23 and Mary was 20
  • Frederick and Mary had 8 children - Frederick, Albert, Emma, Sidney, Mary, Clara, Charles and Thomas.
  • While Frederick and Mary were Baptists, all of their children were baptised Church of England.

Life in England

  • In 1841 the family was living at Salisbury Lane in Bermondsey. At this time the oldest child Frederick had left home.
  • In 1851 was at 53 Charlotte Row at Woolchurch Haw in Middlesex, by this time Albert, Emma and Sidney had also left home.

Migration

  • The Family consisting of Frederick and Mary and their 3 youngest children - Clara, Charles and Thomas, migrated to Australia.
  • They departed Plymouth on 9 September 1852 in an ex convict ship the Wilson Kennedy as 4 of the 445 bounty emigrants. The trip was significant in that 38 people died on the trip.
  • They arrived in Sydney on 27 December 1852.
  • Their son Sidney had migrated to Australia earlier, although it is not known when.
  • The children Frederick, Albert, Emma and Mary stayed in England.

Death

  • Frederick died on Wednesday 8 January 1873 at his home in Palmer Street in Balmain,
  • He was 73 years of age and died of apoplexy (a stroke or heart attack)
  • Frederick's Funeral was on Thursday 9 January 1873 and he was buried at Balmain Cemetery (Pioneer Park) at Balmain, Sydney
