Josiah was born about 1818. In the Civil War, Josiah served as a private, Company C, Michigan Infantry. He served three months: enlisted 4 Sep 1864; discharged [deceased] 3 Dec 1864. In the United States Census of Union Veterans and Widows of the Civil War, his wife, Emeline, was enumerated as a widow.
