Biography

Daughter of James Willard and his first wife, Rachel Hoover. She was born in Spencer Co, Ind. (where her parents married in 1826) or Cape Girardeau Co, Mo. (where her parents were in 1830).

She was 16 when she married John Jacob Jolliff, Feb 19, 1846 in Washington Co, IL. About a year after they were married Jacob's sister (Elizabeth Russell) and sister-in-law (Aaron's wife) died and he took their 7 children (Elizabeth's 4 and Aaron's 3). So when she was 17, Elizabeth had 7 children to raise ages 14, 12, 10, 7, 6, 5, and a newborn baby!

By 1875 Elizabeth was ill with TB. She finally died of TB in Feb. 1880 (age 50) and was buried in the Grand Point Cemetery near their home.

Jacob remarried in July 1880. That marriage was short-lived and after a divorce, he moved to Centralia, Marion Co, IL where he is buried.[1]
