Biography

Andrew was born in 1655. Andrew Willett ... He passed away in 1712.

Andrew Willet of Boston married Susanna Hollbrook of Braintree, 7 [no month shown] 1692-3 at Braintree.[1]

Andrew Willett was dismissed from the service bell ringer and grave digger at the North, January 5, 1714 at Boston, Massachusetts.[2]

Research Note

There is a conflict in my research because there are two Andrew Willetts with the same birth and death dates. One has a wife who is Susannah Holbrook, (1672 -1705) of Braintree, Massachusetts, married March 6, 1693, recognized by genealogists such as Anderson as his only proven wife. The other wife is Ann Coddington (1653 -1751) of Rhode Island; Married 30 May1682. I have listed sources for both including the ones following this note. He could not have been married to both in series because of their marriage and death dates. (Danbrook-3)

Names of children are possibly incorrect and should be attributed to Ann Coddington.

  • Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Family History of New York, Vol. I

Lists parents as Thomas Willett, first mayor of New York and his mother Mary Browne a prominent Plymouth daughter. He is noted as the 14th child and his marriage to Ann Coddington and his children are recorded. [1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Andrew by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Andrew:

I have removed Ann Coddington as Andrew's wife in this profile, but she exists in her own profile. Confusion still exists as to who is the correct wife of Andrew Willett; both wives have documents to prove. The children also need to be sorted out. I have not found evidence of another Andrew Willett.

Willett-611 and Willet-53 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death dates. Parents are the same. Last names spelling are interchangeable in the sources. Differences in the names of spouses are explained in the sources. I believe that Susannah Holbrook is the correct wife according to Anderson, in the source The Great Migration Begins.
