Biography
Bartholomew WHITE, was the son of Thomas White MP and his wife Ann Williams.
According to one source, Bartholomew matriculated aged 12 at St Alban Hall Oxford 28 February 1580/1[1] The records of the Middle Temple confirm he was admitted in that year.
- Bartholomew 'Second son of ____ W of Fitteleford Dorset was admitted to the Inner Temple on October 30 1583 [2] The 1565 visitation of Dorset also includes him as a son of Thomas White and Anne Williams. It could not have done so if he were only 12 in 1581 .If he were born between 1561 and 1564 (ie younger than Thomas but born before the visitation) then he would have been 17-20 on matriculation; It is possible to speculate that he was 17 at matriculation and the 12 is a transcription errorColeman-5109 10:23, 8 May 2016 (EDT)
Bartholomew's will written on 28th May 1596 and probated in June 1596 makes reference to his natural brother Thomas of Fyttleforde who he makes executor and heir and a 'cozen' Walter White. Walter and Bartholomew both sign their names with the spelling Whyte ( It is a short will, it contains instructions about revoking a deed of gift because a debt had been paid by other means. Apart from a golde Angell to Walter and William Gybbe for acting as overseers, his brother Thomas was the only recipient and no wife or children are mentioned))
