Biography

William Williams was born in 1847, apparently at or near Rochester, New York. His death certificate named his father as "John Williams" but some other records say his father was "William Williams"... which is correct? His mother's name doesn't seem to be recorded.

Most records show a middle initial H. - did it stand for anything at all? Harry? Harvey? Henry? Herbert? Hiram? Horace? Howard? Hugh? Or just the nonsensical 19th century fetish for using a meaningless initial? (Like Harry S. Truman... whose initial apparently stood for nothing.)

William H. Williams married Jerusha Newcomb about 1875 - again date and place not found. In New York or Ohio or elsewhere? They lived in Ohio and had children born there. His wife died in 1911.

William died in 1923 at Cleveland, Ohio. Death certificate showed the date of death was 2 April 1923. He was buried at East Cleveland Township Cemetery.
