Biography

John was born about 1845. John Williams ... He passed away about 1936. [1] According to his son (my grandfather), his father married in 1888 a woman who was 14 and was 1/2 Cherokee Indian. While I have found a record of this marriage to my great grandmother Sarah Curry, I have not found evidence of her being 1/2 American Indian. Any information from others is appreciated. It seems she had her children and than died prior to 1900. I have not yet found her death information. My grandfather used to tell us tales about his dad (John Williams, Sr.) hanging out with the "James Gang" and teaching him some Cherokee Language. I do not have any proof of this 'family lore'.
