Biography

Jemima Williams was born on 31 Mar 1820 in Moreton Pinkney, Northamptonshire, England to John Williams and Elizabeth.

"Jemima, daughter of John and Elizabeth Williams of Morton Pinkney was born March 31 1820" - her birth was recorded in the baptist register in Weedon Pinkney, Northamptonshire.[1]

In 1841 Jemima Williams (age 20-24) lived in Moreton Pinkney with her widowed mother Elizabeth (60-64, Farmer), brother Elijah (25-29), two nieces: Elizabeth Williams (15-19) and Elizabeth Carpenter (5), nephew William Masters (3), and two servants: Benjamin Quarterman (20-24, Male Servant) and Sarah Cowley (15-19, Female Servant).[2]

In 1851 Jimmima Williams (age 30) lived in Upper Middleton Cheney, Northamptonshire with her mother Elizabeth (74, Annuitant) and niece Elizabeth Carpenter (15, Farmers Daur).[3]

In 1861 Jemima Williams (age 39, House Keeper) lived in Stuchbury, Northamptonshire in the household of her employer Thomas Neal (22, Farmer of 320 Acres Employing 8 Men & 2 Boys), along with his two brothers: Edwin Neal (19, Farmers Brother) and Mark N Neal (14, Farmers Brother), and two servants: Ann C Prestige (20, Dairymaid) and John East (18, Groom).[4]

In 1871 Jemima Williams (age 49, Housekeeper) lived at Rose Hall in Middleton Cheney, Northamptonshire with her employer Richard Kingston (70, Retired Farmer) and servant Elizabeth Sumners (14).[5]

In 1881 Jemima Williams (age 60, Housekeeper) lived at Rose Lane in Middleton Cheney with her employer Richard Kingston (80, Retired Grocer) and servant Ruth Seeney (16, Servant).[6]

In 1891 Jemima Williams (age 71, Living on Her Own Means) lived in Middleton Cheney.[7]

Jemima Williams passed away on 12 Jan 1901, aged 80 years. Her death was registered in Banbury, Oxfordshire [the registration district for Middleton Cheney] in the first quarter of the year.[8] She is buried at the Baptist Church in Middleton Cheney.

"WILLIAMS Jemima of Middleton Cheney Northamptonshire spinster died 12 January 1901 Probate Northampton 29 March to John Carpenter farmer and Walter Richard Joseph Law solicitor's-articled-clerk Effects £769 6s. 6d."[9]
