"Charity Williams Hiatt

Birth: May 6, 1750 Prince George's County Maryland, USA Death: Mar. 17, 1840 Spiceland Henry County Indiana, USA

Married William Hiatt, 17 May 1769, in New Garden, Guilford County, North Carolina. They had 10 children: Joel (1770-1865), Isam (1776-1850), Prudence (1778-1870), Rachael (1781-1868), Ruth (1784-1830), Silas (1787-1865), Esther (1790-?), Amer (1794-1877)& Rebecca (1796-1852). Charity was the daughter of Richard Williams and Prudence Beals, in New Garden Monthly Meeting, Rowen County, North Carolina. William Hiatt had inherited his father's farm and married Charity Williams of Welsh descent. The Battle of General Green and Cornwallis took place on their farm and surrounding area. The wounded soldiers of both sides were taken into the New Garden Meeting House and Mrs. Hiatt baked bread for them. Charity died at her daughter, Rebecca's house in Spiceland, Indiana.

"On 17 May 1769 when William was 26, he married Charity WILLIAMS, F, daughter of Richard WILLIAMS, M & Prudence BEALS, F, in New Garden Monthly Meeting Rowen Co NC. Born on 6 May 1750 in Prince George Co MD. Charity died in at dau. Rebecca's Spiceland, Henry Co IN on 17 Mar 1840; she was 89. Buried in Spiceland Friends Cemetery, IN."
