Fanny and Pop lived for a short while at Portfield Gate, just outside Haverfordwest. But by the time of the 1939 registration the couple were living at 15 Barn Street. Technically there is no 15 Barn Street, the address is in fact 14a Barn Street. A large house converted into two separate properties at some point in time before 1939. Also at the family home in Barn Street with Fanny and Alfred, are at least two of Pop’s children and possibly a third. The first two are Ernest D S Johns, and his younger sister Susan M Johns (aka Susanna Mary). All other persons at that address have had their details withheld for privacy. The couple also spent some time at St Catherine’s in Haroldston West, just outside the village of Broad Haven.
After their stay in Broad Haven the couple moved into the Drill Hall in Haverfordwest. They were the live in caretakers at the Drill Hall. The apartments were at the rear of the building. After their retirement Fanny and Pop moved to Portfield Avenue. Fanny’s son Les took over the duties as caretaker. Fanny died at St Brides Hospital, and is buried at City Road cemetery Haverfordwest.
