"John Walter Williams III

July 23, 1946 - April 24, 2013

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Pleasant Home United Methodist Church for John Walter Williams who passed away April 24, 2013. John was born in Portland, Oregon, on July 23, 1946, to John W. and Helen Williams . He graduated from Portland State University in June, 1969, with a Bachelor of Science in education, with a focus on history and political science.

John and Alice Binning were married on August 15, 1969. By 1970, John bought his first dump truck and became an Independent owner-operator (Williams Trucking). He went into partnership under the name of "Harris and Williams ". This entity ran long-haul trucks. In later years John started a construction company (Williams Development), and with his youngest son, established an excavation company.

John was active in Pleasant Home United Methodist Church all of his adult life. He held several positions within the church including Chairman of the Administrative Council. John sat on the Pleasant Home Water District board for over 30 years. He was an avid supporter of Barlow High School Athletic programs. John loved children and youth and coached a number of youth athletic teams, and was Umpire in Chief of the Orient Baseball District for many years. He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Jennifer (Tom); sons, John Jr. (Sara) and James (Amy), and six grandchildren.
