Miss Mary Faye McLaughlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mart McLaughlin, of Dresden, became the bride of Warren Williams at an open church wedding which took place Sunday afternoon, July 27, at 2:30 o’clock in the Dresden Baptist Church.
Rev. John A. Vincent, pastor of the church, officiated at the double ring ceremony. Preceding the exchange of vows, Mrs. Clarence Fortune, pianist, presented a program of nuptial music, including ; “I Love You Truly,” “Oh, Promise Me,” “Because,” and the traditional Wedding Marches.
The bride wore a suit of white gabardine with matching acccesories. Her corsage was white gardenias and red rose buds. Miss Marjorie Swope, a close friend of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a beige suit with white accessories. Her corsage was also of gardenias and roses. Clayton Williams, brother of the groom, served as best man.
For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. McLaughlin wore a lime green bemberg sheer dress with white accessories. Red and white gladiolus formed her corsage. The groom’s mother, Mrs. Glenna Williams was attired in a rose sheer print dress with black accessories. Her corsage was of orange gladiolus and roses.
A reception was held at the bride’s home following the ceremony. A three tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and bride-groom formed the center decoration for the dining room table.
Those assisting at the reception were Mrs. Betty Crozier, Mrs. Eileen McLaughlin and Mrs. Ollie Goodall.
The bride is a graduate of West High School, Columbus, and is employed in the accounting department of the Line Material Co., Zanesville, Ohio
Mr. Williams attended Jefferson schools and served 38 months in the U.S. Army, two years of which were spent in the Aleutians. He is employed as salesman at Layman’s service station in Frazeysburg.
The couple left immediately following the ceremony for a week’s trip to New York City. They will be at home to their many friends after August 4, in their newly furnished home on Main Street, Dresden.
Out of town wedding quests were, Clarence Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams, children Betty Lou and John, Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Schwartz and children, David and Geraldine, Roy Williams, Jack Swigart, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Goodall, all of Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. James Norris and Eileen Ewing, of Zanesville.[2]
