Biography

Benjamin was born about 1753, supposedly in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. [1]

Levi was his son. [2] So was Eli. [3]

In 1809 he bought some land in Venango County on the Allegany[sic] River. [4]

He passed away 23 December 1823 and was interred in Calvert Riddle Cemetery. [5]

Indenture Dennis PURSELL And Benjamin WILLIAMS

This Indenture made the nineteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & nine between Dennis PURSELL of the town of Franklin in Venango County in the state of Pennsylvania of the one part and Benjamin WILLIAMS of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Whereas Dennis PURSELL did on the thirteenth of October 1804 purchase the settlement right of Jacob ROAN to a certain Tract of land lying in a bend of the Allegany river about two miles above the mouth of big Scrubgrass Creek in Venango County Witnesseth that the said Dennis PURSELL for the Consideration of five hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Benjamin WILLIAMS his heirs executors administrators by these presents have granted bargained and sold & by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto unto [sic] the said Benjamin WILLIAMS and to his heirs and assigns the said tract or parcel of Land agreeable to the lines run by Samuel DALE Deputy Surveyor in October 1808 together with with [sic] all and singular the buildings woods ways waters water courses and priviliges [sic] thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to Hold the said Tract or parcel of Land with appurtenances free from all incumberace [sic] except the claim of the State unto the said Benjamin WILLIAMS to his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Benjamin WILLIAMS his heirs and assigns forever In Witness whereof the said parties have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above writen [sic].
