Biography

Doris Williams, daughter of John Williams and Jane Jones, was born 4 June 1899^[1] in Normanton, Yorkshire, England.^[2] She grew up in Normanton and is listed there with her parents in the 1901 England and Wales Census,^[3] and again in 1911.^[4]

The following is an excerpt from the book Keeping up with the Joneses:^[5]

Jane Ellen (Doris's mother) was widowed when fairly young and at Dad's (her brother John R.) suggestion she came to Canada in 1923 along with her son George, George's wife Phyllis and daughter Gwen, as well as her children Doris, Jack and Frank - all single. They are all listed in Edmonton, Alberta in the 1926 Canada Census of the Prairie Provinces^[6]

Doris married Allan Caldwell 11 December 1926 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.^[7] Doris and Allan settled in Edmonton until 1930, when they relocated to Honolulu, Hawaii. They are listed there in the 1930 US Federal Census.^[8] Doris left Hawaii in 1945, arriving in San Francisco 14 June 1945.^[9]

Doris and Allan eventually settled in Marin, California where Doris passed away 20 April 1971. ^[1]
