Biography

John Williams 1825

John Williams the son of John and Eleanor Williams, a labourer from the village, was baptised 18th May 1825 at Merthyr Mawr parish church Glamorganshire Wales UK. He was baptised the same day as his brothers, William, Edward and David. John’s actual date of birth is recorded in the margin as 11th December 1825.

John does not appear on the 1841 census with his parents, unlike his younger siblings, David, Isaac, Elizabeth, Ellen and Gwenllian. That said I have better luck with the 1851 census. John is married by that time and he and his wife Mary are living with John’’s parents John Snr and Elinor aka Eleanor aka Ellen. John Jnr and his wife Mary can be found on the 1851 census living in the little village of Laleston, not too far away from Bridgend Glamorganshire. John’s wife Mary is recorded as being born in 1827 at Tythegston a village north west of Laleston. At that stage of their lives the coouple do not appear to have any children. Also at the family home are three of John Jnr’s siblings these being David, Elainor and Gwenllian.

Unfortunatley we lose track of John and Mary after the 1851 census.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
