DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Phillip by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Phillip:

For those tracking YDNA, direct male descendants of Buck Spike are R-M269, which is the R1b haplogroup. My line is R1a, but I'm related to his children via his wife.

This profile is still muddled. Phillip has a duplicate (spelled Phlip) and the supposed parents are also duplicated. I don't see anything to connect this Revolutionary War Phillip with a family in South Carolina or Tennessee. He lived in Virginia when he was drafted, served three times, and returned to Virginia at the end of each period of service. There doesn't seem to be anything to connect him to a family in South Carolina or Tennesse in the 1770's.

Williams-68667 and Williams-9346 appear to represent the same person because: Siblings match. Birth dates are different, but one profile is completely unsourced.

The DAR application file doesn't include any information on or documentation for Philip's marriage. This is not unusual since the genealogy required for membership is only that of the patriot.

Pretty much nothing on this profile is accurate. Philip was a Revolutionary War soldier born in Virginia about 1757, enlisted in Virginia, fought in several campaigns including two AGAINST the Cherokee, and was discharged in 1780. Married a woman named Ann, had several children, lived in Tennessee and Kentucky, where he died. He has a lengthy pension application on file and is DAR Patriot #A126561. Other than fighting against the Cherokee, he had absolutely no connection to any Native Americans.

The whole family does have some documentation issues on several web sites. Comments on family search refer to comments on this site. It is hard to find records. I am descended from James II. I am working on a DAR application under James but at this point don't know what the DAR has for James. I do have the Printer's Devil made up of writings of James II grandson Sam Williams. He refers to his uncle Phillip , grandfathers brother, as being at the battle of Kings Mountain. As far as birth places of James, Phillip, and brother Hardin, seems 2 may say SC and one VA but maybe due to changing names rather than location. The location in SC may have become TN or at one time VA. I don't know and don't know how to find the truth, just going by others research. As far as marriage to Ann, I have seen on family search that marriage was in 1808, making her in maybe her 50s and not the mother of Phillips children. Another maybe not a fact as of yet. I am searching for an earlier marriage. In all my DNA connections to people who Ancestry says descended from James I as a common ancentor, I have yet to see an indication of any have American Indian heritage. Again, not a denial but just what I am seeing. If someone knows an earlier wife for Phillip, I am certainly interested for my trees and research. I have information somewhere, but in my move everything was misarranaged and I have not had time to find all past research. this may be OBE by the time I hit the save button and I have not looked at all the children on here for a mother other than Ann.
